A face mask that looks just like bologna? Why not, since we’ve already seen e.l.f.’s collab with Chipotle, and now its latest ice-cream-inspired collection—and so many more ways that food has inspired beauty lately.

Oscar Mayer states in the press release that it created “the first-ever bologna-inspired face mask.” It may seem like a joke or publicity stunt, but it’s real—Instagram Influencers are even being paid to promote it. See the video ad below.

No detail was overlooked—the funny mask even has cutouts that make it look like a child was playing with a piece of bologna, and then made eye holes in it to see through. The brand says the campaign is about “recapturing childhood joy.”

And the outer packaging looks like it belongs in a supermarket.

Lindsey Ressler, sr. marketing analyst, Oscar Mayer, talks about the promotion, explaining, “Oscar Mayer has a legacy bringing levity to things that have gotten too serious—and beauty is a ripe territory to playfully subvert.”

Ressler continues, “Inspired by those who used to playfully make masks out of their bologna as kids, this product was born as a modern-day way to spark smiles for fans of Oscar Mayer…”

She adds, “It is the latest in our brand movement to create work that feels more like pop-art and less like traditional commercial advertising…”

Seoul Mamas Created the Hydrogel Sheet Mask

The mask is hilarious, but it’s also a legit beauty product. Oscar Mayer partnered with the Korean private label beauty company Seoul Mamas to produce the hydrogel sheet mask.

It promotes skin elasticity, improves hydration, and has anti-inflammatory benefits. Oscar Mayer also hopes they will make you laugh.

The rejuvenating face masks that resemble bologna are limited edition and available for purchase on Amazon.
